How Did This Happen?

I must get down and grovel to Mileah, who celebrated her forty-fourth birthday two weeks ago!

I am ashamed….

Dream

Posted on June 8, 2003 in Dreams

Something loose in the mind: I’m walking with many others in the future. The next stage of evolution has happened: there are now predators (other than people) on the human species. A man cries “suckies!” Large pods appear in the sky and dozens of slugs burst from them. Everyone runs for the cover of a modern building. I see those who have run with the crowd falling as the slug things attach. I realize that it is not wise to move with them because the suckies act statistically: they land where there is the greatest probability of finding food.

I run through many deserted parts of town or places where everyone has locked his door, looking with others for a hospital where the suckies have not yet come, one which will open its door and shelter people like me.

I wandered into a blog where a conversation about a mockingbird nest was going on recently. I’ve lost the address. Does anyone know where this is?

I propose a constitutional amendment — to both the state and federal constitutions — that would prevent the memorialization of any individual in the name of any government property for a period of fifty years following their death.
