Andrew at Byte Back spotted an amazing example of satire in real life:
I’m sure I’m the last oen to be let in on this little factual party, but the General J.C. Christian Web site, PatriotBoy is heavily influenced by the film Dogma….The Jesus statue on his front page is none other than “Buddy Jesus” from the film.
Here’s the picture:
The line at the bottom is mine. It speaks to the spirit of the graphic. How soon people forget that in Christ there is no east or west, “neither Jew nor Greek, there’s neither slave nor free, there’s neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus”. (cf. Galatians 3:28) Nor Americans.
Enthusiasm is running high among faux Christians for a Christ who conquers. Imagine these at the Temptation in the Wilderness screaming as Satan offers all the kingdoms of the world “Take it! Take it!”
But then, this crowd follows Mammon in the Bush (cf. Matthew 6:24), apparently believing that despite Christ’s warning, they can serve two masters. Trust no “Christian” who says that he can live contrary to the word of Christ and still get into heaven.
Permission to steal this graphic for satirical purposes is granted.
