A Personal Checklist for War Activism

Posted on March 24, 2003 in War

It’s all war, war, war, though I did read a good piece offline about someone who decided to liberate a couple of Maine lobsters in a California tidepool.

Here are some things I intend to devote my time to regarding this war:

  1. Seeing that the starving Iraqi children get proper food and medical attention.

  2. Doing what I can to protect/defend soldiers who blow the whistle on war crimes or who refuse illegal orders.

  3. Doing what I can to expose war criminals on all sides and see them brought to justice by the International Court of Justice.

  4. Doing what I can to see the “Hague Invasion Clause”, which states that the USA may use military force to “rescue” war criminals brought before the International Criminal Court, is struck from the nation’s laws.

  5. Seeing that the United States becomes a signatory to the International Criminal Court. (Is Iraq a signatory?)

  6. Seeing that all parties uphold the Geneva Convention on POWs.

  7. Doing what I can to promote better health benefits for veterans and for all Americans

  8. Avoiding any act which might be construed as support for the war.

  9. Pressuring news organizations to cover the war accurately.

  10. Working to push Bush out of office in November 2004.

I welcome alternative checklists via trackback. Here’s a wizard for those bloggers who don’t have Movable Type.
