Went to Dripping Cave over the weekend with friends, a trip that wouldn’t have excited me except for the good company. We needed an easy trail because we — especially me — were out of shape. The flowers hadn’t reared from the soil yet and I came home with a choice sunburn that irritated a nerve in my arm so that I felt the pain in the thumb and the shoulder.
