Put this on your blog 2….

Tammy Anderson saw my earlier post on the topic of guns and freedom. She promptly sat down at her computer and made this graphic:

I want to make it clear that this is for anyone who is sick and tired of allowing the NRA to run the debate on guns in this country. I know a few gun owners — responsible people who keep their guns locked up when they are not in use — who are just as sick of the ideas promoted by this extremist organization as many gun abolitionists are. I lean towards the former group, myself — though I don’t own a gun, I can grant recreational uses for them.

But what the NRA has tried to tell us is that freedom depends on materialism, specifically gun ownership. This makes them a mouthpiece of the arms manufacturing industry whose primary intention is to sell more guns, regardless of the social costs.

Experience tells us that gun owners are no less willing to go along with a liberty-busting regime than the “sheep” they claim to oppose. They often become the death squads by which a corrupt and evil regime attempts to force its “peace” on a free people.

Face it: the NRA has thrown its support entirely behind this illegitimate adminstration now occupying the White House. The guns of its members aren’t pointed at the usurpers but at those who stand on their own two feet and dare to criticize and oppose it. It is no agent of liberty, but an arm of oppression.

Free people use their First Amendment rights to oppose corruption and to live their consciences in spite of attempts by the government and its paramilitary forces to intimidate them. A voice is more powerful than any bullet because once uttered, words can be repeated over and over, whispered, shouted, or painted on walls. They cost nothing, you don’t need to buy in. This is real liberty.
