J. Alfred Prufrock Politics

Posted on May 17, 2003 in Citizenship

Whenever I bring up my list of concerns about what the Democrats intend to deliver if they regain power in 2004, I can rest assured that one of three things will happen:

  1. They will say that talk like that will only reelect George Bush. “And look what happened the last time you voted for Nader in 2000.” The retort limps off to an unhappy death when I point out that I voted for Gore and Gore wimped out when the going got rough.
  2. Having seen that that will not work and having heard me state that I’ve come around to the conclusion that voting is about declaring my conscience, they say “We’ll get back to you.”
  3. They never do. The rest is silence. I guess the Democrats don’t care if they have my vote or not.

Three seems to be the response in the wake of the ecstasy over the one and only courageous stand of the Democrats in the period running from 2000 to the present day, the Texas redistricting showdown. I still have questions and I posted them to Acts of Conscience last week. And the rest, as usual when the issues are brought up, is silence from the whiz-bang Democratic pundit and posting machines which slice, dice, and even do corn. Boy do they do corn.

Is it going to be more J. Alfred Prufrock politics?: “Do I dare? Or Do I dare disturb the Universe?”

My concern is what will they be saying in 2008 if the DLC wins in 2004. Will they just look the other way when Patriot 3 hits the books, pushed through by their Grand Old Party? I know that if Bush wins, they’re already got their excuses ready: they’ll just blame me.
