Meeting Lynn

Posted on June 17, 2003 in Book of Days

Note: This is part of a series based on exercises from A Writer’s Book of Days. It’s something of a rebellion against the Friday Five and similar tupperware content memes.

Today’s topic: It’s who you met at a party.

I wasn’t planning to go to Kanef’s housewarming. Parties bored me. Too much shouting over questionable music; too many questions about what you did for a living & what kind of business prospects your company offered; and way too much trading of business cards. I never really met people at parties.

But at the last minute, I changed my mind. I follow the thin golden thread of connectivity and met Lynn. We got to talking. I took her home because she had a bike and I had a bike rack. Stammered out my request for a date.

I prefer not to think about the what-ifs. There’s a big soot cloud that never developed in my life. Why worry about what didn’t happen when the outcome was so good?

Want to participate? First either get yourself a copy of A Writer’s Book of Days by Judy Reeves or read these guidelines. Then either check in to see what the prompt for the day is or read along in the book.

Tomorrow’ topic/prompt: Out of the corner of my eye.
