Note: This is part of a series based on exercises from A Writer’s Book of Days. It’s something of a rebellion against the Friday Five and similar tupperware content memes.
Today’s topic: This is where I went wrong.
I’ve been tossed up this week, running around doing a little too much, perhaps. That’s one thing wrong. As for the reading last night, I think Nurse Ratched hit the nail on the head:
….if you’re going to share aloud for an audience, rehearse. Rehearse not for the audience’s comfort and entertainment, not for your reputation or to calm your nerves, but for the beauty, truth, and essence of the message itself.
If a reading went poorly, or could have gone better, that’s good because it gives you experience from which to grow. It is fertilizer to your future readings. Let them feed off it.
Call it cheating, but wise words are wise words and best left off at the final period.
Want to participate? First either get yourself a copy of A Writer’s Book of Days by Judy Reeves or read these guidelines. Then either check in to see what the prompt for the day is or read along in the book.
Tomorrow’ topic/prompt: Write about small change.
