An Australian

Posted on July 4, 2003 in Book of Days Encounters

Note: This is part of a series based on exercises from A Writer’s Book of Days. It’s something of a rebellion against the Friday Five and similar tupperware content memes.

Today’s topic: Write about a voice.

Shane’s Australian and I’m sure he talks like all those friends from the brain-shaped continent who I have never met. He’s got the classic nasal and ends his sentences in a tone that sounds jovially dismissive. “Yeeeaaaah!” contains all the tones he uses when he speaks. Phrases swing to the left when they come out of his mouth, hit a wall, and slide to a stop.

Want to participate? First either get yourself a copy of A Writer’s Book of Days by Judy Reeves or read these guidelines. Then either check in to see what the prompt for the day is or read along in the book.

Tomorrow’ topic/prompt: Write about a time you cried.
