The one thing that may distinguish John Kerry from George Bush is the simple fact that John Kerry actually went to Vietnam and fought.
According to The American Spectator:
The presidential campaign of Sen. John Kerry may be saying that it doesn’t care about the new momentum of Howie Dean’s team, but it sure isn’t acting like it. Kerry’s folks have begun intensive opposition research on Dean, sending staff to Vermont to pull together whatever dirt they can find out about not only Dean but also his wife, who continues to work as a physician in the state.
This is effectively reproducing the kind of tactics that the Right used to do the water drip torture on Bill Clinton: attack not only the man himself, but his family.
To Kerry and his supporters I say simply this: Dean’s wife and family are off limits. If you win the nomination by picking at them, you will lose my support.
More than a year before the Democratic National Convention, there is already too much dirt in this campaign.
