Clocking the Untruth

Posted on August 7, 2003 in Humor?

I heard this joke first during the Nixon Administration. Then again during the Reagan Administration.

Rumsfeld dies and goes to heaven. There he is met at the pearly gates by St.
Peter. Behind St. Peter, on the wall are a number of clocks. Rumsfeld asks what
the clocks are for. St. Peter says,”Those are lie-clocks. Everytime some lies, the hands on his clock moves.”

Rumsfeld asks, “Whose clock is that?” St. Peter responds, “That one
belonged to Mother Therese. The hands never moved, showing that she never told a lie.”

“And that one?”asked Rumsfeld. St. Peter replied, “That one belonged to
Abraham Lincoln. It moved twice, showing that he told two lies during
his life.”

Rumsfeld asked,”Where is President Bush’s clock?”. “Oh,” replied St.
Peter. “His clock is in God’s office. He’s using it as a ceiling fan.”
