Note: This is part of a series based on exercises from A Writer’s Book of Days. It’s something of a rebellion against the Friday Five and similar tupperware content memes.
Today’s topic: There’s a bar in Austin, Texas called “Jake’s Place”.
I don’t know what to write on this topic except that I know that Judy Reeves has this thing about cowboys. I don’t. I’ve never been to Texas except on transcontinental or international flights, so I don’t have much of a clue what to write here without dropping into considerable stereotyping.
There’s a biker bar at the bottom of my hill here, but I must admit that I’ve been in there only once. On the weekend, the lot in front of it glows chrome. I sometimes take people to an overlook where they can peer down and get an eyefull.
Want to participate? First either get yourself a copy of A Writer’s Book of Days by Judy Reeves or read these guidelines. Then either check in to see what the prompt for the day is or read along in the book.
Tomorrow’ topic/prompt: Write about someone who sinned.
