Waking from a long nap, I spend the first hour coughing up crud from my lungs into the toilet or into tissues, whichever is convenient. I look at the expectorant and wonder “what color should send me to the Emergency Room?”
Then I take more medications, eat some fruit, and watch the late afternoon sun backlighting the Venetian blinds.
Boadicea comes to lie on me, but whenever I cough, she jumps off. She doesn’t know that a cough isn’t a scolding, I think. She comes back every time.
