As I swung out of the Panda Express in Aliso Viejo, I saw a man who’d been loitering in front of a line of cars. When I first saw him, he was telling someone on his cell phone that he was busy at the office and couldn’t make a date. He was dressed in a T-shirt and shorts.
I believe he was speaking to someone else on my second pass. What I heard suggested a Deal. “By December,” he cheered into his little pocket office machine, “by December when we open, we’ll be completely sold out.”
Oh my God, I thought. Enron in shorts and a t-shirt.
