We have spent the last 200 years taking discrimination out of the Constitution. Now, following the decision of the Massachusetts State Supreme Court to allow same sex marriage, the Republican Congress is gung ho to put a little old time hatred into the document that defines how we live with one another.
I have long said that driving homosexuality underground results in severe exploitation and cruelty to the weaker partners. I rank Libertine Republican opposition to the institution with their stands against helping the victims of AIDS on the grounds that this disease discourages the “sin” of homosexuality. (Is the next step to deny heterosexuals antibiotics when they contract a venereal disease?)
Keep purblind religious-based cruelty out of our social contract. Take the time to send a fax to your congressional representatives and senators. Tell them to block any attempt to put hatred of any kind into our governing charter. Click here to send a fax or an email.
