Just as I was logging off, the crockery atop my desk rattled and the screen wobbled. I stared into a revolving desktop icon for a split second and then yelled “Earthquake!” By the time I got to the letter K, the shaking had stopped. My computer locked up. I rebooted, ran it in safe mode, did a scan disk, logged into our account, and brought up the USGS site.
The epicenter appears to be about 12 to 15 miles north of here. 4.6 is a very small earthquake. If I’d been five miles farther to the south, I probably would not have felt it. Lynn and the cats slept through it. I made more noise with my shout than the quake did with its rocking. I doubt the neighbors appreciated my bellowing.
You can read some accounts (including the log of the conversation I was having when a big one hit in 1999) of California Earthquakes here. Yes, I compiled that site.
Did anyone else feel it?
