Crystal Cove 1

Posted on September 7, 2002 in Biomes Photos The Orange

Crystal Cove is located about 15 miles to the south of me, along a bit of coastline that developers from the City of Newport Beach feel eager to turn into another of their banana palm-shaded asphalt jungles. I sicken every time I see how city planners have allowed new subdivisions to plane the hillsides and tear off the coastal chaparral to fit their idea of what a proper, taxable seaside should look like. There are people fighting for it. Over the next day or so, I will post more photographs from our visit there today. I think you will agree that it is something worth preserving from those who would destroy the wilderness and surround what little remains with private chateaus.
