I’ve noticed that whenever someone says “Lighten up” it’s a surefire thing that they’re being heavy-handed and embarassed because you caught them at it.
Gina thinks that this happens only to feminist lesbians. I think almost everyone who stands up against funny-boy-bullies gets told to “lighten up” at one time or another.
“I’m sorry” is the proper response, though I do grant that it is not accepted. I had to stop visiting a certain person’s blog because after I apologized she kept holding the act against me.
We might make more progress if when people apologize to us we made a point of accepting them and letting the matter drop.
