Here’s what I wrote about last week’s trip to Dripping Cave:
I can’t say that Aliso and Wood Canyons do much for me. As a reviewer at Localhikes.com said, you do a lot of walking for very little scenery. I went there to show others Dripping Cave, a moderately interesting feature located in a slot canyon off the main creek in Wood. The sides of the hill rise maybe a hundred feet on either side. A fern meadow covers the exterior dome.
Inside you get to enjoy the cool that the sandstone preserves. It’s not much, just an undercut of a brief run that comes down from the neighborhood called “Top of the World”.
A thin mist — a relic cloud which had come down last night around 10 pm — blurred the vistas. The mountains whose heights demanded the positioning of large estates and a university on their crests. Diana and Bart tried to tease me about covering it all with condos. I have not enough love for either Aliso or Wood Canyons to feel a surge of anger on its behalf….
