The Sun and The Moon

square171.gifBecause of Klondike Kate, I got to wondering about why we call the Sun “he” and the Moon “she”. If we consider the fecundity of the two spheres, the larger and the smaller, I would think that the sun, the producer of light, constantly giving birth to photons and fusion reactions, would be the “she”. The Moon, on the other hand, is barren and shows off its scars, just like a man beaten up by working outdoors.

Did men claim the Sun out of Womb Envy?
