Swerving Thermometer

Posted on June 29, 2004 in Global Warming Weather

square140.gifFor the past few days, the Weather Channel has been off target in its predictions for our area by four to eight degrees. Saturday morning was supposed to be cooler — in the mid-eighties, but the thermometer swelled to 90 degrees by 11 am, meaning that the bare slopes upon which we trotted reached the low hundreds.

Today the thermometer swung in the opposite direction, downwards to the pleasant mid-seventies.

And so the temperatures go, ignoring the highway of experience and driving like a drunk all over the road. I won’t make any statements, but it does seem to me that our weather has been defiant this June. I watch the skies every day.

Are the comparitively large error margins a new thing or has this been happening before? And if they are new, are they due to incompetent administration of the National Weather Service or bizarre climate change? Neither is a good recommendation for the Bush Administration.
