America’s Chernobyl

In a comment on my Hiroshima Day piece, John Lettiere brings up the coverup regarding the numbers actually killed at Hiroshima. Add to this the oft-denied fallout cloud that has made St. George, Utah the Leukemia Capital of the United States and our very own small Chernobyl. This “secret” denied at the highest levels of the Pentagon even today even appears on the official Utah State History site!

This war corruption which the Bush Administration has raised to a high art is at least as old as World War II. Until our citizenry holds the military accountable for its experimentation and demands the full truth about our nuclear testing program as well as chemical and biological warfare, this nation will only be an illusion of liberty. A free people know what their government is up to. Here in America, 49 years after the end of the Second World War, there is much that it keeps from us.
