It’s been awhile since I met another blogger….doug the Mute Troubador and his two sons have been visiting California. Doug’s biggest wish was to go toe to toe with the Pacific Ocean. “So what do you want?” I asked. “Rock or sand?” He hemmed and hawed just a little, so I suggested Crystal Cove State Park which has both. Suited him just fine and there were a few bikinis for his sons, too as well as tidepools filled with crabs, sculpin, and opaleyes.
Afterwards we went to California Pizza Kitchen at the Irvine Spectrum Center, a reliable chain operation that they liked for the choices on the menu. (Psst, Doug. There are three in Ohio and one in Louisville). I can’t stand seeing burritos reinvented as “wraps” but pizza has always been fair game for strange alterations. Afterwards, we went to Barnes and Noble and then posed for this picture beneath the ferris wheel. (The fellow who took the shot was more than a little shakey and kept putting his finger in front of the flash….)
All in all, a good day. Meanwhile Lynn went to visit Kathryn Cramer. She told me that there were toys all over the house, which brought a smile to my face in the light of recalling recent posts over at that blog. All in all, we both had nice visits with blog friends who we have known for sometime but never faced in real life. Until yesterday, Friday, August the 13th when, I hope, curses were held in abeyance.
