This morning I fired my primary care physician and his medical group after receiving a nasty letter from their legal department accusing me of disturbing the peace in the cardiologists office “without reason”. Research on the web disclosed that my primary care physician and the cardiologist were classmates. I can no longer trust that medical group and spent the morning talking to my insurance company, my new cardiologist, my dentists, and my mental health providers.
A physician and a health care group’s first responsibility is the health of the patient. This office has added to my stress. I have since discovered that my group has been the target of complaints in the past. Glowing industry reports say that they have turned around. What I found is that they have an inadequate Patient’s Bill of Rights and a nasty group of lawyers working for them.
This is over. I must move on. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
Here’s a link to the AMA Principles of Medical Ethics. Note the first principle:
A physician shall be dedicated to providing competent medical care, with compassion and respect for human dignity and rights.
