Aortal Link – Reconstructed Mind

Posted on October 3, 2002 in Aortal

I’ve been a supporter of the InterNet as “folk revolution” as long as I have had an email account (since 1988). Aortal.com is not a network or a portal, but a movement of bloggers who, each week, promote another blog. This is the second in a Thursday series.

Reconstructed Mind resembles this blog in that its author combines descriptive reflections on daily life with photographic images. Bobbi is a Kansas based fiber artist who has given me a whole new appreciation of the beauteous potentials of life in the flatland.

You won’t find much political stuff here: “i am a person who pretty much keeps my head in the sand” she wrote recently. And yet “head in the sand” is not a term I’d use to describe this age peer of mine, who imparts the details of her reveries in every sentence of her blog. Bobbi’s writing is worthy of modeling in that she eschews the use of InterNewSpeak for intimate inner portraiture. I go to this blog expecting to smile. And the best part is that she does it without coming off like a Care Bear or some other flimsy mass market love symbol. This woman writes reality.

One criticism: bobbi, please compress your jpegs. If you set the compression level to 25, the pictures will be much smaller and virtually indistinguishable in quality from the uncompressed images. I’m eager to see the pictures and to get to your words, bobbi. Don’t give me an excuse to click out before I have even begun.
