The Word “Lesbian”

It was with some sadness that I added the word “lesbian” to the list of words which force a comment into moderation. The spam was just too much. Friends of mine have been turned into objects for sheer profit-making.

I don’t get around to many blogs these days, but I still stand by what I said shortly after I started this online journal. I like dykes. And it pains me terribly to place restraints that might keep them from speaking about their personal identity in my comments. A person should be able to say “I am a lesbian” or “I am gay” without being held up by a censorship engine. But the tide of advertising makes this impossible. So into the moderation queue they must go.

I apologize. I don’t know what else to do.
