If I’d received news of her cancellation of our lunch plans yesterday or before seven today, I could have pursued an alternate course which I have been contemplating for a few days. I’ve not been very attentive to keeping my creative journal lately. So I think a change of scene is necessary. Having no friends with secluded cabins or studio apartments, I decided to indulge myself in a one day retreat using the services of Metrolink.
The scheme is to purchase an off-peak round trip ticket for the rush hour, board the train in Irvine, and ride down to Union Station in Los Angeles. I would eat my lunch in the waiting room, watch people, and write as much as I could. Then at either 2:50 pm or 3:30 pm, I would board a train for the ride back.
This is how I could have spent my day, but I did not receive notice of my friend’s change in plans until ten minutes before the last inbound train. So I spent my day listening to the screech in my head, dreaming, and watching dvds. I do not call this productive, but there you have it in a hard disk.
