What’s Your Fascist Score

Benito Mussolini defined fascism thusly:

Fascism, the more it considers and observes the future and the development of humanity quite apart from political considerations of the moment, believes neither in the possibility nor the utility of perpetual peace. It thus repudiates the doctrine of Pacifism — born of a renunciation of the struggle and an act of cowardice in the face of sacrifice. War alone brings up to its highest tension all human energy and puts the stamp of nobility upon the peoples who have courage to meet it.

I’ve known for a long time that I don’t fit the mold, but Scott found a link to a site that computes how susceptible to fascism you are.

According to this test, I’m “a liberal airhead” (2.033333333333333), a mere third of a point better than “a whining rotter”. Back in the fifties when they developed the test, they would have called me a “fellow traveler” or, perhaps, an “egghead”.

There’s another interesting “tool” on the site, one which allows you to generate a hysterical press release. I developed this one:

Grief counselors for the Sierra Club blamed the NRA for mocking the effects of multiple personality syndrome among Grenada conflict veterans.

“Their elitist attitude isolates us all,” said the spokeshominid, adding that Grenada conflict veterans plan to file a class-action lawsuit in federal court asking $1 quadrillion in damages.
