Harriet Miers

square091Pulling one from the playbook of the wRong, I have to say this about Bush’s nomination of crony Harriet Miers for the Supreme Court: What did she do to earn this nod? Sleep with him? And couldn’t she have done better?

Cynicism, however, is not a reason for rejecting Mier’s candidacy for the high court. We have even less to judge her on than we have on John Roberts! That’s enough to reject her! And even elements of the fanatical wRong agree! (Can the wRong be Right for once? Maybe so.)

My working theory on the nomination is this: after being forced to put John Roberts forward, Bush put his foot down. “I’m the president! I get to choose who I want.” It’s an attitude which is straight out of the “it would be easier if this were a dictatorship” remark he made while stealing the election from Al Gore. What the wRong is discovering, to its horror, is that they have been codependents to a man who doesn’t even feel he is accountable to them.

Can I say I told you so? In a matter of days, alas, it will be a high sacrament to post pictures of Harriet Miers on every right wing blog and sing hosannas to her beauty. Oh dear. I’m sounding like them again. Maybe just out of spite I should endorse her.

Check the Daou Report. Thanks to Alley Rat for the link.

Then there is Harriet’s blog. Is it real or not? You decide.
