We who suffer from mental illness need a safe place to talk about what is happening to us. Which is why we blog.
There is that other life, however. The big chunk of thought and feeling which is hard, very hard to make interesting to the reading public. What can I say to seize imaginations by talking about the empty cornhusks that once held tamales sitting in front of me right now?
Our culture wants us to write of daring things. When we write of twisted cornhusks, it must be done in a scientific manner or serve as the object of a photograph.
I have spent many days thinking of how to make cornhusks interesting, how to speak of them like a pair of lovers at right angles after sex, one crossing a leg. But what do you see? The cornhusks or the lovers?
