The depressing thing is that saying what I have been saying all along seems to occur as an afterthought to many people and when they do, they forget that I said it. Now folks are pointing to the blogs of their friends who seem to have woken up to the fact that there’s going to be a war that the American public does not want run by a lunatic who the popular majority did not elect.
Like, duh!
I am getting sick of being right about things and then, when others wake up to the truth of it, they forget that I spoke early to the same effect . I feel like the members of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade who were persecuted during the witch hunt era because they opposed fascism “too early”. Except there is no witch hunt: there’s considerable lack of appreciation, instead.
Some seem to be on the anti-war wagon because now they can make a party of it, e.g. the organizers of this demonstration that Skits mentions.
I honestly believe that people read that I am on medications and think that everything that comes from my mouth should be ignored because I am mentally ill. As if my depression were manufacturing whole hallucinations about a besieged unelected president who is resorting to jingoism to save himself in the upcoming elections, about elected representatives who ignore the popular will because it does not pay their fringe benefits, and about a people who watch Survivor so that they don’t have to face the grim truth that the vote in their life that means something isn’t being used or respected.
I honestly don’t know where America will go with this. I don’t know if it will become so bad that people like me will get dumped in concentration camps. To tell the truth, living among a thick-headed people who give in too readily to the will to obey, it won’t be necessary for Corporate power to do so. I already dwell in the prison whose walls are the ignorance, the forgetfulness, and the apathy of others around me.
I’ll break the mold and make some predictions about this demonstration: first, there will be violence and property damage. Second, the perpetrators will never be arrested or tried. Third, the reason for this will be because they are not pacifists, but provocateurs.
Another prediction: expect the stock market to thrive until just after the election, regardless of the result.
