I’ve been a supporter of the InterNet as “folk revolution” as long as I have had an email account (since 1988). Aortal.com is not a network or a portal, but a movement of bloggers who, each week, promote another blog. This is a Thursday series. I encourage others to do the same.
Now and then you run into a person whose thoughts mirror your own in key ways. Bink of Cunningly Prosed speaks my mind when she describes her outrage at seeing homeless people on the streets of her new-found hometown, Chicago, Illinois. I’m not sure why this particular subject resonates with her, but it is just one of the reasons why I have made her blog a regular visit.
Cunningly Prosed offers brave vistas into the mind of an intelligent and compassionate woman trying to live in the 21th century. She recently remembered some unhappy experiences, including a near rape, which happened to her when she followed a flighty high school friend into dodgy places.
She’s not always an angel. On Tuesday morning, she mentioned how she keyed a parking space hog. The article provoked lively comment about whether or not it was the right thing. Unlike other bloggers, Bink responded thoughtfully and at length to those who criticized her. It’s a refreshing thing to see in this currently touchy world.
A small warning: Bink’s having some trouble with the sidebar graphics invading the text on browser screens that are 800×600 or smaller. You can get around this by clicking on the time stamp for the entry and reading the full archive page. Bink doesn’t act fast to resolve problems: she lets things percolate a bit before she makes changes. I’m sure when she fixes it, it will look great.
If you should decide to participate in Aortal and, further, if you should decide to point to me some week, you can use this graphic. Here’s the link code:
