Sidewalk Lights

Posted on March 15, 2006 in Photos

I did this series of abstractions for a photography course (covered in previous articles) and titled my work Urbane Banalities. Being a depressive made me keenly aware of objects lying on the ground such as the rubber band dropped on the sidewalk in the image above.

If you’ve been examining my nature shots, you may notice that I take a similar tack. Fragments matter. How beautiful, for example, are the pieces of a broken vase or T.S. Eliot’s The Wasteland? I photograph like that. I look for the pieces.

For those rating the images, note that the highest rating is the five yellow stars on the right and the lowest is the five blank stars on the left. You can only vote once.
