“Scientists look for mental triggers to asthma”. No, Associated Press. This isn’t the old “psychosomatic” model of asthma. This is more sophisticated that your little editor and headline writer could fathom.

Will someone educate journalists in the subtleties of accurate reportage?

I am so glad that my father is not alive to read this. He used to watch me trying to get a mouthful of air down my throat and tell me that I was just doing it to get out of work. Even though he had it himself, he never got that the sensation of trying to breathe your throat into your lung wasn’t imaginary.

Nothing like folk wisdom to obscure pain.
