You were wondering about Yves Magloe? His coworker:
The Board of Trustees declined last night to consider rehiring Yves. I assume the next step is litigation. I’m also told that mental illness will be a topic for general discussion at the next board meeting on June 21.
I feel that this escapade is community-college-district-lawyer-driven. Instead of saying “We did wrong, let’s undo the decision”, the board is hoping that Magloe will give up.
It never ceases to astound me how a wrong can be perpetuated by a fear of lawsuits. Lawyers tell their clients “Never apologize. Never admit that you are wrong.” Which utterly demolishes any hope of reconciliation. I’d like to submit this to binding arbitration — with no lawyers present and the judge examining only the facts of the case. We’d see a lot less litigation if lawyers did not advise their clients to stonewall.
That this person is African and mentally ill probably does not help his case. While I understand the difficulties that HR officers face, it does not exonerate them from bigotry and ignorance.
Note for those non-Wordpress Users who wondered how I deduced that the message came from the George Department of Education: When you post a message to this site, it records your IP address. It was facile to put that number into a Whois query and find the point of origin.
Should I send a note to the Department of Education about this misuse of their computer system?
