rainbow seems to have disappeared in mid-contest, so it is up to me to state my preference for the “winner” of the seagull meme. After much thought and reference to the fact that not a single one of the entrants offered me a bribe, I have decided to grant the meme to Tanya who wrote:
It is the evolution of seagull-kind, started by his great, great, ever so great grandpappy, popularly known as Jonathan Livingston Seagull. JLS taught that to fly, to soar, and to touch the heavens was the true nature of seagulls, and scavenging was unnecessary and demeaning. This particular seagull, a follower in the church of JLS, has willingly had his leg removed to symbolize his belief that while one leg is on the ground, the rest of him belongs to the air.
The only problem with Tanya’s story is that the seagull in question was cadging handouts at the time of our meeting, but heck, I asked for fiction and got some interesting pieces.
There were some additional, funny entries that you should not miss!

The next time I am feeling especially perverse, I’ll run another such “contest”.
