An Unseen Risk

As Bush amazes us with the promise of yet another war that nobody seems to want, I can’t help but shudder: given the armed forces’ opposition to either a land war or a sea war or an air war in Iran, we could be on the verge of a coup. Couldn’t happen to a nicer man, but how will we get our democracy back if the generals and the admirals seize it for a time? And who will they “clean” before and if they do?
