Disparity

square084To be a drug user in this society is an invitation to a life of luxury when it comes to treatment. Think of all the celebrity rehabilitation centers. To be mentally ill is to be forgotten. I had more evidence of this during my depressive episode of August. I tried to get into hospitals but the beds were full. Friends who were addicts got right in. My sickness simply does not pay. Or I am seen as too broken to fix.

When I had the choice of using drugs and alcohol, I declined. Was this a mistake? Would I be better off if I had indulged and gone through rehabilitation?
