One hundred and eight degrees

As the temperature pressed towards the upper, rounded end of the thermometer, clouds crowded in to gawk at all the people wearing shorts and tank tops. I went down to the garage, picked out two one gallon drinking water jugs, brought them upstairs and put them in the freezer, a hedge against the power going out. We’re ready for the worst this Labor Day weekend.
