McCaincellation

square480I was chuckling this morning about how it had come out that McCain’s claim that he bought only American revealed two sad facts: that out of the thirteen cars owned by the McCain family, 4 were foreign-made and that second, the couple owns thirteen cars! Using Cindy McCain to hide his wealth is all too typical of McCain. But then the Big Story hit: McCain suddenly wanted out of the presidential debates because suddenly there was an economic crisis that he’d been denying up at least until late last week! “I’ve got to get to Washington,” he said. For what reason? To make his one vote as a senator in the entire year to support a Bush hit-and-run that would put $700 billion in the hands of the Secretary of the Treasury to spend as he sees fit!

Is this not Rovian foreplay for a fuckover? McCain is so rattled by the possibility of losing to Obama that he dares not put himself in the firepit of the debates, especially after he has told us time and again that there was nothing about the economy that could not fix itself. Obama is on the roll and this is desperation: McCain cannot afford any kind of gaffe in the debates because Obama’s formula is working: McCain=McSame.

Obama should call this for what it is and show up for the debates. If McCain doesn’t show, he scores a victory. If he does and grumbles about this, tell him that he owes it to the American people for them to see what he is like under stress. So far, he has panicked. We don’t need that in a leader.

And always remember that these things have to be told to the American people over and over again. John McCain panics. That is the reason for the last minute McCaincellation.
