…picked up its suitcases and was bound for wherever viruses go by nine o’clock in the morning. I knew I was on the mend when I could get a better sleep than in the train station waiting room my temporary tenant brought me to. The soreness and the heat of my own body that chilled at room temperature faded. I kept taking tylenol throughout the day, but by the time 10 pm rolled around, I was eating normally (which is not to say healthily) and wondering how I would get to sleep.
This illness reached out to co-opt the whole family. Both cats came to lie on the bed while I slept. The dog curled up at the door. Lynn took over the support group meeting for the evening. It was good to be rid of the possessor, but I would miss the love that acute sickness brought me.
