Tanya’s recent rant against some schmo who denied that women didn’t deserve the same rights as men because they don’t/aren’t allowed to enter combat recalls to my mind certain Aztec views on the subject.

The Aztecs ran a divided society based on sex: men went to war and women got pregnant. Aztec belief held that the souls of women who died in childbirth earned every bit as honorable a place in their afterworlds as the souls of warriors killed in battle or slain as sacrifices. If they were sexists, you can’t say — on this point, at least — that the Aztecs weren’t fair.
