Mexico City, Day 5

Went to the Pyramids today. I got winded while climbing the Pyramid of the Moon. Fortunately, my company included another asthmatic who did not mind stopping at every level.

The guide demonstrated a nice technique for dealing with the swarms of vendors who approach you while walking down the Avenue of the Dead or any other open market. “Buenos dias,” I learned to greet each cheerfully. “Buenos dias….” they’d say as we strolled on past. Each encounter ended amicably and quickly. It works so much better than telling them “No” or asking them to just go away.

I wonder if it will work in Tijuana? Or should I continue to pretend to be loco so that they will think twice before they grab me? (Best of all is to avoid the place. Too gringoized for my taste.
