Chat is Cheap

Posted on February 4, 2003 in IRC/Chat

Chat is ephemeral. Logs make it possible, however, for arrant bigotry to be enshrined. Pretty cool, eh?

A chatter at #democracy on Coolchat took several potshots at blogging when I paid a visit and mentioned that I did it to folks. Nexstar started up on a little unpaid defamation of the medium. Here is the exchange as extracted from my logs:

[18:47] <Nexstar> Blog - how old are you?
[18:47] <EmperorNorton> I am 44 years old for the next 11 eleven days,
Nexstar [18:47] * Nexstar doesn't know anybody older than 20 who has a blog :D [18:48]<Chicago7> I didnt know blogs were age specific [18:48] <EmperorNorton> Well, Nexstar, you evidentally move in immature circles. :) [18:48]<Chicago7> new one on me [18:48]<Chicago7> hey she aint immature! She is more mature
at that age than I was at TWICE hers. LOL [18:48] * Nexstar hasn't heard of anyone out of college that has one
..put it that way [18:49] * Nexstar wonders what a 44 year old would put in their blog
- most of the girls i know whine about bad boyfriends and current anime
and things that they like... [18:49] <EmperorNorton> You can go read it, Nexstar. And
check the links: I have a few peers in my age range. [18:49] <Nexstar> ...heh that's okay..... [a lot of irrelevant chat removed] [18:55] <Nexstar> http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8
&oe=UTF-8&q=favorite+anime%2Fmanga+blog [18:56] <Nexstar> pretty much any of these are going to be your
standard blog [18:56] * EmperorNorton wonders why Nexstar is out to defame
blogs. Oh well. Later all. [18:56] *** Disconnected Session Close: Tue Feb 04 18:57:17 2003

What can I say? I have a low tolerance for stupidity and willful ignorance, no matter what the politics!

Yet another person who would probably deny that they were “attacking” me. Yes, even liberals have people who prefer to enjoy the narcotic of their assumptions and preclusions rather than view the facts.
