Another Thought on Sanity Check

Posted on February 18, 2003 in Writing Groups

I probably won’t be getting my short story critiqued this Monday because of the oral surgery. I don’t want to sicken my public with the sight of me nodding stupidly because of the pain killers and leaking blood into my Red Tea.

I’ve been thinking about the fact that I have already been hard at work revising the story (to the point of finishing a completed draft and letting a few volunteers know that it is ready). This, as I mentioned earlier, is against a “rule”.

But who is the rule for? It’s like passing out photographs of a painting and waiting to fix a glaring error that you see the next day so that some critic will have the pleasure of pointing it out as if you couldn’t see it?

The art comes first. Critics who can’t accept the fact that time is a continuum and change rules should get out of the business.

Thank the Universe for those who accepted my privately posted request to serve as readers for my story. I won’t name names because some have asked for confidentiality. Most of them read this blog and they know that I am speaking of them.
