Solonor unleashed a concentrated volley of sarcasm at the Anti-Bloggies 2003.
I’m concerned about the implications of one of the categories: “Most depressing blog”. Despite my slides up and down the mood rollercoaster, I think, barring a concerted effort by a cabal of ardent detractors, that I can safely say that I’m not in the running for that. I won’t say who could readily beat me, because they don’t need any more shit in their lives.
It’s high time that we who suffer from mood disorders stand up and say “Sorry, guys, but it’s not funny.” Otherwise, I nominate for “most depressing blog” every nitwit who yucks it up about Prozac and the other medications that some of us need for our bona fide medical conditions. Add to it those clowns who think that depression doesn’t exist, that we’re just lazy or stupid. Throw in the depressives in denial, who booze it up or do drugs as self medication. No, I take it back. DON’T throw them in. They’re fellow sufferers. Maybe they will come around and when they do, it’s important for them to know that there is help and peer support for them.
Doubtless we’ll hear long agonized whines about our political correctness, but making fun of any disease is about as funny as a bastinado.
