The more I see Fundamentalists running around attacking others, the more I believe that there must be a second Jesus Christ, other than the one who delivered the Beatitudes.

Lynn and I are sleeping in an abandoned car on a roof top. I go downstairs. My brother is coming to hector me. When he comes around a corner in the hall, I point a flame thrower at him and just douse him with it. He stands there, never quite catching afire. I keep thinking “What a stupid thing.” I call to him “Today I am going to eliminate you.” It is then that he darts away, around a corner. I tell a friend of mine who is living in a car inside a shopping mall to watch for him because I know he will come back and try to kill me. I go back to the car and tell Lynn what I did. We gather our things and leave, in the company of two teenaged boys who have the courage to hold hands even though they know people will kill them for it.
Afterthought: While I was at Barnes and Noble tonight, I looked at a book of dreams which reported that murdering my brother means that I am embarking on a dastardly enterprise. I’ve given a lot of thought to which of my nefarious activities it could refer to and finally decided that the fact that the bastard wouldn’t die must be a point in my favor. I’m a failure at being a bad guy it seems.

After shocking one conservative matron enough to make her get up and leave before the conversation was over (gotta love that open-mindedness!), we talked about whether or not it was the right thing for Michael Moore to “disrupt” the Academy Awards with his little anti-Bush speech.

In all these cases, regardless of the smoking gun, they deny the Truth because in their minds, the Truth is something that can be shifted around to fit their political aims and prejudices
