I am back in college and heading for the dining hall at Claremont Men’s College (as it was known at the time). My parents are with me, but they accidentally go to Frary at Pomona instead. A friend and I queue up at the line. A crowd of obese people shove us through the glass door. They lift me onto their shoulders and carry me lengthwise through the line. The hall is filled with neat conservatives sitting at round tables. Everyone else has to stand.
