I didn’t mention it nor did Lynn, but yesterday was our fifteenth wedding anniversary. We went to a favorite seafood restaurant and were treated to a dessert of bread pudding smothered under a Jack Daniels’ sauce by the waitress who overheard us mentioning it.
No, I don’t consider myself an expert on married life. I do, however, recommend it when you choose carefully and thoughtfully.
I look forward to the day when the privilege of choosing who you want to have as your life partner is open to all of us of the age of consent. The issue was in my mind when I recited the vows then: sadly, fifteen years later, no state has stepped forward as the first to recognize the institution of monogamous marriage for all regardless of sexual preference.
