Bowie is in the teething stage and needs to chew. So is Fiona. The material that does the most to relieve their urge to gnaw, unfortunately, is the skin around our knuckles.
Yesterday I remembered going through the same thing with Ambrose ten years ago. What worked was giving him something of sufficient pliant hardness to exercise his jaws upon, namely beef jerky and the dried animal parts they sell for dogs. Tonight, I bought two smoked pigs ears. As soon as I came home, I unwrapped one and broke it in half, one piece for each of them.
“There,” I said. “Now you have a job to do. Chew that until it is soft enough to make a silk purse from.” They enthusiastically set themselves to the task.
